Wanderlust – Should We Become Groupies?

Disclaimer: Photo Above is a Striped Bass. Not a Grouper.

Wanderlust. It is a term that has been thrown around by those who vacationed in the Outer Banks maybe a few times in their childhood. They only claim this ‘persona’ because they drove down and made a mess at a few Waffle Houses along the way. “We can go explore on the drive down. We’ll take the scenic route!” Be honest with yourself – you don’t have enough sky miles and now you’re filling up your ’07 Jetta with premium just to be safe.

Now that I have accurately described myself above, I would like to further vilify myself. I consider myself someone who tries to take advantage of any and all opportunities that are thrown my way. A Carpe Diem Virum for you Latin lovers. This includes traveling when I can. However, I have the gall to consider myself an erudite man in the subject of travel when I have hardly ever left the East Coast. In an attempt to fill these ever-growing shoes I’ve been trying to wear, we have come to a conclusion: maybe we should just become bull riding groupies.

A New Leaf

The bar we have set for ourselves is Snoop Dogg-type high. Javier Sotomayer wouldn’t come close to jumping this bar. Michael Jackson couldn’t survive a bar like this one. We don’t want to just become groupies. We want to become the groupies. Our goal is for riders to walk in the arena and ask themselves why the fuck are those two knuckleheads now in Wyoming with us.

I’ll tell you exactly why, Wyatt Rogers. Because we want to travel, we enjoy this sport, and who else other than Cangro is going to take those photogenic (yet candid) pictures of you. And who knows, maybe we will find ourselves at the Smith Mansion when we are out there. Just as a little treat to fill that urban explorative-curious hole in my soul.

I’ve always romanticized the ‘van life’ way of living. Quaint little kitchen. Cozy twin bed with a little storage beneath. Showering at Planet Fitnesses. It all seems so lovely and a perfect way to live and travel if you have the time, money, no commitments, no obligations, money, and zero desire to form any lasting relationships. In other words, I’m in.

To all the venues and arenas out there – watch out. There’s two new groupies coming town.
